Twist the shaft and two nuts glide apart on a dual-threaded rod. The colorway is unique to whoever picked it up, and every twist reveals the mechanism beneath.
Spin the nuts the other way and they return, driven by the opposing threads working in concert. Each nut rides its own helix, so one moves left while the other moves right. They travel until they meet, then stop dead. Turn the shaft instead of the nuts and the same motion happens, just a different grip.
